TCK6050 CNC Slant Bed Lathe: 182 Nm of Spindle Torque with 15 m/min Rapids on Both Axes

The TCK6050 CNC Slant Bed Lathe is the 50 mm bar machine of BONANZA’s TCK6050 family. The spindle nose is A2-6 with a 65 mm bore, the motor is listed at 11/15 kW, and the published speed range runs 50–4000 r/min with 182 Nm of maximum output torque. Both linear axes rapid at 15 m/min, and the Z axis carries 630 mm of travel against 260 mm in X.

Two figures on that sheet decide most of the buying decision: how long a shaft the Z axis will turn, and how much bar the spindle will actually pass. On the TCK6050 those come out at 630 mm and 50 mm.

The A2-6 spindle is the real divider

Everything about this machine is sized around a 50 mm bar. The 65 mm bore through an A2-6 nose sets the ceiling: bar stock up to 50 mm feeds through the draw tube with clearance, and the chuck that holds it is a standard 8-inch class unit. That is the sweet spot for turned fasteners, hydraulic fittings, shafts, bushings, small flanges and the general run of parts a job shop pushes through a lathe every week.

What pushes the TCK6050 above the entry machines in the same series is the 11/15 kW motor and the 182 Nm torque figure. The continuous rating covers roughing passes in steel; the higher figure is available for the heavier cuts and the interrupted work that a smaller spindle would have to slow down for. The 50–4000 r/min band leaves room for two different jobs on one machine: low-speed, high-torque turning in alloy steel and fine, small-diameter work at the top of the range.

If a part needs more than 50 mm of bar, this is the wrong machine in the range. The TCK6350D steps up to an A2-8 spindle with a 96 mm bore and 85 mm bar capacity, and the TCK70D goes further still with an A2-11 nose and a 120 mm bore. Bar capacity, not swing, is usually what forces that jump.

260 mm of X and 630 mm of Z

The travel split tells you what the machine is for. X at 260 mm is a short cross stroke, which keeps the turret close to the spindle and the whole structure stiff. Z at 630 mm is more than twice that, so the axis that has to cover a shaft length gets the stroke, while the axis that only has to reach the turning diameter stays compact.

Fifteen metres per minute on both axes is a useful figure for a machine of this size. Rapid speed is what fills the air time between cuts. On short-cycle parts with a lot of tool changes and positioning moves, matched X and Z rapids keep the cycle from developing a slow axis that the other one waits on.

The tailstock covers 450 mm of travel with a 100 mm quill stroke. That is enough to support shaft work across the working length without repositioning the body on every job.

Where the TCK6050 sits in the slant bed range

The TCK50 is the smaller bar machine: 8-inch chuck, 50 mm bar, but a shorter 200 mm of X travel and a 500 mm swing. BONANZA lists its spindle at a single 4500 r/min figure rather than a range, and its X and Z rapids are faster at 30 m/min because there is less mass to move. Shops moving from the TCK50 to the TCK6050 are buying swing, spindle torque and Z length, not speed.

The TCK6050D shares the 560 mm swing, the A2-6 nose and the 11/15 kW motor with the TCK6050, but offers two turning lengths, 500 mm and 980 mm, on Z travels of 630 mm and 1120 mm. Where a shop needs one lathe to cover short and long parts, the D is the wider net. Where parts sit consistently under 550 mm, the standard TCK6050 covers them with the same spindle at a lower cost.

Above that, the TCK70 moves to a 45-degree bed and a 12-station high turret with a 125 mm centre, rated for 12 mm single-side cuts, with cutting lengths that run from 1000 to 3000 mm. It is a different class of machine, and the tooling and floor space it needs reflect that.

For shops that need milling on the same part, the slant bed range stops being the right answer. The TCK6050Y carries the same swing and the same A2-6 spindle but adds a ±50 mm Y axis, and the TCK6050SY adds a second A2-5 spindle for back-side work.

What the published sheet does not settle

A few numbers on the TCK6050 product page need confirmation against the quotation before an order is placed.

The summary line lists X-axis travel at 280 mm and Z at 620 mm, while the specification table below it gives 260 mm and 630 mm. The table is the more detailed source and matches the quick-reference figures elsewhere on the page, but the two should be reconciled in writing.

The summary also lists a maximum cutting length of 540 mm where the table gives a maximum turning length of 550 mm, and the machine envelope appears as both 3240 × 1940 × 1965 mm and 3238L × 1925W × 1966.5H mm.

Beyond those, several items a shop would normally want are not published at all: the spindle motor’s continuous and intermittent ratings separately, locating and repeat positioning accuracy and the standard they are measured to, the turret type and number of stations, the guideway type, the tailstock quill taper, the CNC controller, chuck size, and the difference between standard and optional equipment. Each of these is best confirmed in writing with the factory before the specification is frozen.

Bottom line

The TCK6050 is a 3800 kg slant bed lathe built around a 50 mm bar, with enough spindle torque for real roughing and matched 15 m/min rapids to keep cycle times down. It fits shops turning parts under 550 mm long in the 50 mm bar class, and it takes the same tooling and spindle ecosystem as the rest of the BONANZA TCK6050 family.
