The TCK6350B is a hard rail slant bed lathe rated for long-term unilateral cutting of 12 mm. Put plainly: you can take a 12 mm depth of cut on one side of the workpiece, part after part, without the machine loosening up or the insert failing halfway through the shift.

That number is the interesting part of this lathe. Travels and spindle bores are easy to publish. A sustained single-side cut is a claim about rigidity, and it is the line that separates a box-way lathe from a linear-guide machine of similar size.

What a 12 mm unilateral cut asks of the machine

Cutting force travels through the tool, into the turret, into the saddle, and down through the bed casting. The weaker that path, the more the machine flexes under load, and flex shows up as chatter, poor finish, and short insert life rather than as a positioning error on a spec sheet.

Hardened and ground box ways carry cutting loads over a much larger contact area than recirculating linear rails. Wider contact means less deflection per unit of force, which is why roughing work still lands on box ways while high-speed finishing tends to use linear guides. On the TCK6350B the 4300 kg of cast iron acts as a damper as well as a base, and the 18.5 kW spindle motor has enough headroom to keep torque on the tool instead of stalling against the cut.

Sustained heavy turning also puts heat into the bed and the spindle housing. A thick, heavy casting has more material to soak that heat up, which is the difference between a machine that holds size at 10:00 and one that starts drifting by lunchtime.

Box spindle: 96 mm through-hole, 85 mm bar

The spindle uses an A2-8 nose with a 96 mm through-hole and 85 mm maximum bar capacity, and it is built as a box-type spindle rather than a bolt-on unit. The box housing gives a longer bearing span and a stiffer spindle support, which is what lets the lathe run both heavy cutting and higher speed work without the front bearing loading unevenly.

Top spindle speed is 4500 rpm. That is honest for a machine of this class: it is not built to chase 6000 rpm in aluminum, it is built to remove steel. Chuck options are 10 in or 12 in, so bar feed and chucking work are both covered from the same spindle.

Swing, travel, and the work envelope

Swing over bed is 630 mm, with a 480 mm maximum cutting diameter. Swing over the cross slide is 370 mm, and 500 mm is the maximum cutting length. The 370 mm figure is the one that decides real jobs: it tells you how much diameter you can still cut once the turret is in position and the turning tool is engaged, not just how large a part will clear the bed.

X-axis travel is 270 mm, Z-axis travel 690 mm, and both axes rapid at 15 m/min. Tailstock travel is 500 mm with 100 mm of quill stroke, enough for between-centres work on shafts. Overall the machine measures 3300 x 1750 x 1890 mm and weighs 4300 kg, so plan the floor space and the lifting gear before delivery rather than after.

Turret and tooling

The standard tool holder is a horizontal 12-station servo turret. Twelve stations sounds like a small detail until you load it: OD roughing, OD finishing, facing, grooving, threading, and a spare boring bar can all stay set up at once. On heavy work that matters more than the index time, because every tool you do not have to swap by hand is a setup you do not repeat on the next job.

Where the TCK6350B sits in the slant bed range
