HTMC800T Mill-Turn Machine: 1,500 mm of Turning on an A2-8 Spindle with a ±125 mm Y Axis
The HTMC800T Mill-Turn Machine is rated to 600 mm maximum turning diameter and 1,500 mm maximum turning length. The spindle nose can be ordered as A2-6 or A2-8, the Y axis moves ±125 mm, and all three linear axes rapid at 12 m/min. X travel is 820 mm, Z travel is 1,800 mm, and the tool envelope goes to 75 mm diameter by 300 mm long.
That is the longest turning length in BONANZA’s three-model HTMC family, and the largest turning diameter. Buyers who shortlist it are usually running long shafts and housings that need milling in the same clamping as the turning, and 1,500 mm of Z is what keeps that a single-setup process.

820 mm of X travel is the number that stands out
The other two machines in the HTMC family publish less X than this one. The HTMC500T gives 700 mm and the HTMC800S gives 720 mm. The HTMC800T is 100 mm clear of both.
X travel is what decides how far the turret can reach across the part, and on a mill-turn machine it also sets the working envelope for the live tooling. An extra 100 mm sounds small in a specification table. On a Ø600 mm part it is the difference between milling a pad on the far side in one pass and repositioning the turret mid-cycle.
Rapids are identical across the three models at 12 m/min on every axis, so the X advantage costs nothing in cycle time on positioning moves.
Why a lathe needs 125 mm of Y
The Y axis on the HTMC800T is the same ±125 mm as the HTMC500T and HTMC800S. BONANZA uses that figure across the family.
Y travel is what lets the machine drill and mill off the centerline. Without it, a cross hole on a shaft means either a special tool holder or a second operation on a machining center. With ±125 mm and live tooling in the turret, the flats, keyways, cross holes and bolt circles come off in the same setup as the OD turning.
BONANZA’s smaller mill-turn machines rapid faster in Y, but they cover far less distance doing it. On a machine built around 1,500 mm of turning length, 12 m/min is a reasonable compromise between speed and mass.
A2-6 or A2-8, and what is not published
The HTMC800T is quoted with either spindle nose. That choice belongs to the buyer and it changes the chuck bore and the bar capacity, which is routine on machines in this class.
What is unusual is that BONANZA does not publish the spindle bore or the maximum bar capacity for this model, where it does for the rest of the mill-turn range. The HTMC500T lists an 86 mm bore and 75 mm bar; the HTMC800S lists 87 mm and 67 mm. Neither figure appears on the HTMC800T sheet.
If bar work is part of your part mix, that gap matters more than any other line on the table. Ask for the bore and bar capacity in writing with the quote, and confirm them against the spindle nose you actually order.
1,500 mm of turning length, and the lower turret note
The turning length on this machine is 1,500 mm, which is 250 mm more than the HTMC500T and 300 mm more than the HTMC800S. For shaft work that is the reason to pick it. A machine that runs out of Z halfway through a long shaft forces a steady-rest setup or a second op, and both cost more than the step up in machine size.
Three figures in the specification table carry a qualifier: 700 mm swing over bed, 600 mm turning diameter and 700 mm swing over the cross slide are each reduced to 330 mm when the lower turret is listed. The table does not say whether the lower turret is standard, optional, or simply a configuration BONANZA can build. If your parts are close to the 600 mm diameter limit, that is a question to settle before you order, because the answer changes the machine’s usable envelope.
Where the HTMC800T sits in the mill-turn range
BONANZA’s CNC mill-turn machine series runs from a 500 mm turning diameter up to 800 mm, with turning length stretching to 3,000 mm on the 70Y. The published sheets line up like this:
| Model | Max. turning dia. | Max. turning length | Spindle | Y travel | X / Z travel | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HTMC500T | 500 mm | 1,250 mm | A2-8, 86 mm bore, 75 mm bar | ±125 mm | 700 / 1,400 mm | 14,000 kg |
| HTMC800S | 580 mm | 1,200 mm | A2-6 / A2-8, 87 mm bore, 67 mm bar | ±125 mm | 720 / 1,550 mm | 17,000 kg |
| HTMC800T | 600 mm | 1,500 mm | A2-6 / A2-8 | ±125 mm | 820 / 1,800 mm | — |
| TCK3100LY | 500 mm | 1,000 mm | A2-8, 85 mm bore, 75 mm bar | ±100 mm | 400 / 1,050 mm | 8,000 kg |
| QK1322 | 800 mm | 1,350 mm | A2-15, 240 mm bore, 220 mm bar | — | 450 / 1,600 mm | 12,000 kg |
| TCK2300B | 400 mm | 500 mm | 400, 65 mm bore, 50 mm bar | ±60 mm | 240 / 500 mm | — |
The step from the HTMC800S to the HTMC800T is 20 mm of turning diameter, 300 mm of turning length, 100 mm of X and 250 mm of Z. It is a genuine step in size rather than a trim level.
Above this family, the QK1322 opens the turning diameter to 800 mm and the bore to 240 mm, but gives up turning length and has no Y axis. It is built for big, short rings and flanges rather than long milled shaft work.
The 70Y goes the other way, taking turning length out to 3,000 mm with a No. 5 Morse taper tailstock and a 37 kW spindle.
What the spec sheet does not say
BONANZA publishes the geometry, the spindle nose, the tool envelope and the rapids. Before ordering, get these in writing:
- Spindle bore, maximum bar capacity and spindle speed range for the A2-6 and A2-8 versions.
- Spindle motor power and maximum torque.
- Positioning and repeat positioning accuracy, and the acceptance standard behind them.
- Machine dimensions and approximate gross weight, neither of which is published for this model.
- Turret type, number of stations and live tool drive arrangement, plus whether the lower turret is standard or optional.
- Guideway type on each axis.
- Tailstock travel, quill stroke and taper.
- CNC controller and configuration.
- Options such as bar feeder interface, chip conveyor, through-tool coolant and oil cooler.
Frequently asked questions
How big a part will the HTMC800T take?
The rated figures are 600 mm maximum turning diameter and 1,500 mm maximum turning length, with 700 mm of swing over the bed and over the cross slide. Those three limits drop to 330 mm if the lower turret is in use, so confirm the turret configuration before planning the part.
Does the HTMC800T have a Y axis?
Yes, ±125 mm. That is enough for off-center milling and drilling with live tooling, so milled flats, keyways and cross holes can be finished in the same setup as the turning rather than going to a machining center.
Can the HTMC800T do bar work?
BONANZA does not publish the spindle bore or maximum bar capacity for this model, although it does for the HTMC500T and HTMC800S. Ask the factory for both figures against the spindle nose you order before you commit.
Bottom line
The HTMC800T is a mill-turn machine for parts up to 600 mm diameter and 1,500 mm long, with a ±125 mm Y axis, 12 m/min rapids on all three axes and a 75 mm by 300 mm tool envelope. It takes either an A2-6 or A2-8 spindle nose. If your work is long shafts and housings that need milling in the same clamping as the turning, its 1,500 mm of Z and 820 mm of X are the two numbers that matter most.
Send the BONANZA team your part drawings, the materials you cut, and whether bar work is in the mix. They can confirm the spindle bore, bar capacity, power, accuracy figures and lower turret configuration, and tell you whether the HTMC800T, the shorter HTMC800S, or the longer 70Y fits the work.
