Most vertical machining centers with a 1400 x 700 mm table give you about 1200 mm of X travel. The 1370 gives you 1300 mm, and it does it on a BT40 platform that weighs 9000 kg. That combination is the whole point of this machine: enough table and enough stroke to run two or three fixtures side by side, without paying for a BT50 heavyweight you don’t need.

Travel and table: what the numbers do at the machine

X, Y and Z travel are 1300, 700 and 750 mm. On a 1400 x 700 mm table that leaves genuine clamping room at both ends of the stroke. If you have run a machine where the table is long but the travel is short, you know how much time gets eaten moving clamps and re-zeroing. Here you can park one vise near each end, set up the second job while the first one cuts, and let the tool change stroke stay clear of the work.

Maximum worktable load is 800 kg, which is enough for a cast iron housing, a stack of plate work, or a heavy fixture with the part still bolted in it. T-slots are 5 x 18 x 130 mm, so standard M16 clamps and 18 mm slot tooling drop straight in.

Rapid traverse is 24 m/min on X and Y, 18 m/min on Z. That matters more than it looks on a machine with a long X. On short-cycle drilling and tapping patterns, the traverse rate and the acceleration behind it decide whether the air-cutting time adds up to minutes or seconds per part.

Spindle: BT40-150 at 8000 rpm

The spindle uses a BT40-150 taper running to 8000 rpm. That covers the usual mix: 10 mm to 20 mm carbide end mills in aluminum and mild steel, drills and taps, and light face milling where a 40-taper tool is already more than enough.

Standard configuration includes a 15 kW spindle motor, or an 11 kW low-speed high-torque motor if your work leans toward heavier cutting at lower rpm. The second option is worth asking about if you spend most of your time in steel rather than aluminum. Torque at low speed is what keeps a 50 mm face mill from bogging down, and the rated motor choice changes that far more than a spec sheet headline usually suggests.

Bed, ribs and guideways

The bed is built with “meter”-shaped reinforcement ribs. In practice that means the casting resists twisting under a heavy cut instead of letting the column and table deflect together. Rigidity shows up as surface finish and tool life long before it shows up in a positioning spec, so it is one of the few structural details worth asking a builder about directly.

The three-axis guide rail system uses 55-type rails. Wider rail sections spread the load over more bearing area, which is what lets the 1370 carry an 800 kg table load without the axes getting loose or noisy over time. It also gives the machine more tolerance for off-center cuts than a lighter rail size would.

Where it sits in the vertical lineup

That puts it in a useful place for shops that mostly run aluminum and steel parts in the 300 to 900 mm range and occasionally need to mount something bigger. If your parts are consistently over 1000 mm in Y, or you are cutting hardened tool steel all day, the BT50 machines in the series make more sense. If your parts are smaller and you care most about cycle time, the 855 is the cheaper answer.

Three things are worth settling in the quote. Motor choice, 15 kW standard or the 11 kW low-speed high-torque version, depending on whether your work is aluminum-heavy or steel-heavy. Whether you want through-spindle coolant and a chip conveyor, which change how the machine handles deep-hole drilling and long unattended runs. And the control and tool magazine configuration you need, since both vary by order.
