1000S-DT Horizontal Machining Center – 4,000 kg Table Load with 1,800 mm of X Travel
Most shops buy a horizontal machining center for one reason: the part has faces on four sides and they are tired of flipping it. The BONANZA 1000S-DT Horizontal Machining Center is built around that job. A 1,000 × 1,000 mm table rated to 4,000 kg, a BT50-45° spindle running to 3,000 rpm, 1,800 / 1,000 / 1,300 mm of travel, and 16,000 kg of machine underneath it.
Here is what the published numbers say, and what they mean once a box casting is clamped down.

Why the table rating carries the purchase
A 1,000 mm square table is a familiar size. The number worth reading twice is 4,000 kg. In this series the 800S-DT is rated to 2,000 kg on an 800 mm table and the 630-DT to 1,200 kg on 630 mm. The 1000S-DT doubles the load of the 800S-DT while adding only 200 mm of table. That gap is the whole point of the model.
Heavy castings are usually the constraint, not the cut. If a housing arrives on a pallet at 2,800 kg, machines rated at 1,500 or 2,000 kg are out of the running no matter how good their spindle is. With the 1000S-DT the part goes on whole, gets machined on several faces in one setup, and comes off without a second fixture.
Because the table is T-slotted, boring fixtures and angle plates bolt down directly, so tall parts do not need a tombstone. The product page lists the T-slot two different ways, 7-22-125 mm in the summary and 5-22-160 mm in the specification table, so confirm which applies to your build when you order clamping hardware.

A BT50-45° spindle at 3,000 rpm
The spindle takes BT50 tooling with a 45° nose and turns to 3,000 rpm. That combination tells you where the machine is aimed: low top speed plus a big taper equals torque for roughing rather than speed for finishing aluminium.
A BT50 holder accepts larger diameter tools than BT40 and holds them with far more rigidity at long gauge lengths. On a boring pass down the inside of a gearbox housing, or a face mill taking a heavy cut across a 900 mm casting, that is what keeps the tool quiet and the size on target. The 45° figure describes the spindle nose geometry, a shorter path from the cutting edge back into the front bearings than a long-nose arrangement.
Spindle motor power and torque are not published for the 1000S-DT. If heavy roughing is part of your process, ask for the motor rating and torque curve in writing at quote stage rather than assuming.

Travel: 1,800 mm on X, 1,300 mm on Z
Reach is where horizontals earn or lose a job. The 1000S-DT covers 1,800 mm in X and 1,300 mm in Z. On a 1,000 mm table that leaves clearance on every side of the workpiece, which matters because a horizontal spindle approaches from the side, not from above.
Rapids are 14 m/min on X, 12 m/min on Y and 14 m/min on Z. Those are moderate figures and they fit the machine’s purpose. A 16,000 kg cast structure carrying a 4,000 kg table load is not moved quickly. A full X traverse runs a little under eight seconds.
Where the 1000S-DT sits in the HMC range
The horizontal machining center series steps up in a clear order:
- 630-DT: 630 × 630 mm table, 1,200 kg load, 1,100/900/1,000 mm travel, BT50 φ190 at 6,000 rpm, 12,000 kg.
- 800S-DT: 800 × 800 mm table, 2,000 kg load, 1,300/1,000/1,000 mm travel, BT50-45°, 15,500 kg.
- 1000S-DT: 1,000 × 1,000 mm table, 4,000 kg load, 1,800/1,000/1,300 mm travel, BT50-45° at 3,000 rpm, 16,000 kg.
- TH1400S: 1,400 × 1,400 mm table, 5,000 kg load, 1,800/1,300/1,500 mm travel, BT50-45° at 2,000 rpm, 19,500 kg.
- TH1600S: 1,600 × 1,600 mm table, 10,000 kg load, 2,000/1,500/1,800 mm travel, BT50-45° at 1,500 rpm, 24,000 kg.
Read down that list and a pattern shows up: as the machines get bigger, the spindle gets slower. That is deliberate, because the parts that need a 5,000 kg table also need a tool that can take a deep cut without stalling.
The 1000S-DT is the smallest machine in the range that clears 4,000 kg. If your parts top out around 1,500 kg and fit an 800 mm table, the 800S-DT does the work for less money and less floor space. If they run past 5,000 kg, the TH1400S or TH1600S is the honest answer.
Installation notes
The machine measures 4,380 × 3,910 × 4,700 mm and weighs 16,000 kg. Floor loading, foundation and door clearance need checking before it ships, and the route from the loading dock to its final position needs headroom for lifting.
Who the 1000S-DT suits
- Box housings, valve bodies and pump casings that need boring and milling on four faces
- Castings and weldments between roughly 2,000 and 4,000 kg that outgrew a 630 or 800 mm table
- Shops adding a first horizontal and wanting headroom on table capacity rather than buying twice
- Heavy roughing in steel and cast iron, where a BT50 spindle at 3,000 rpm beats a faster BT40
If your parts are small and need fast, light cycles, this is the wrong machine. A 855 vertical machining center will make them faster for a fraction of the price.
What to confirm before you order
Four items that matter at installation are not on the published sheet:
- Spindle motor power and torque rating, if heavy roughing is part of the plan
- Tool magazine capacity and holder style for your build
- Whether a rotary table or pallet changer is available for your configuration
- Positioning and repeat accuracy figures, plus the acceptance test standard
- Foundation drawing, floor loading and doorway clearance at your site
Frequently asked questions
How much weight can the 1000S-DT table carry?
4,000 kg on a 1,000 × 1,000 mm table, double the rating of the 800S-DT in the same series.
What is the difference between the 1000S-DT and the 800S-DT?
The 1000S-DT has a 1,000 mm table against 800 mm, 4,000 kg of table load against 2,000 kg, and longer travel at 1,800/1,000/1,300 mm against 1,300/1,000/1,000 mm. It gives up a little rapid speed: 14/12/14 m/min against 15/12/12 m/min.
Is the 1000S-DT a 3-axis or multi-axis machine?
It is a 3-axis horizontal machining center. X, Y and Z are the axes listed, and no rotary or tilting axis appears on the published spec, so raise a fourth or fifth axis with the factory when you request the quote.
Bottom line
The 1000S-DT is a horizontal machining center built for heavy, multi-face work. A 1,000 × 1,000 mm table rated to 4,000 kg, 1,800 mm of X travel, a BT50-45° spindle at 3,000 rpm and a 16,000 kg frame give you a machine that holds a big casting and machines around it without re-fixturing. The rapid speeds are modest and the top spindle speed is low, and those are the right trade-offs for the work this machine is meant to do.
If you have a part with faces on every side and a weight the smaller tables will not take, send the BONANZA team the drawing with material, part weight and finished size. You will get a straight answer on whether the 1000S-DT Horizontal Machining Center fits the job, or whether an 800S-DT or a larger TH1400S is the better match.
